Grace Feldmann, MSW
I am an Awakened Mind brainwave trainer, certified by the late Anna Wise, mind research pioneer and international authority on EEG and consciousness. I assisted Anna in leading workshops at Esalen Institute and have practiced meditation for forty years.
From 2006, I ran a brainwave training practice in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, teaching clients to produce at will the empirically proven brainwave signature of optimal performance, using real-time EEG and guided meditations. I loved the work. A health crisis put it on hold.
What brought me back was watching social media, algorithms, and chatbot design change the way people show up online, including me. When I researched the roots of these technologies and the latest science on how they affect us, I learned the various ways our attention is being deliberately captured and our emotions manipulated for profit. These platforms increasingly control what we attend to and shape what we purchase, without our awareness. A growing body of research shows these processes are slowly eroding our cognitive skills and emotional agency, and with them our capacity for sovereign decision-making. Best practice lists and willpower aren't enough to win back authority over our own minds.
That's why I started Adeptable Mind Coaching. By integrating my brainwave training expertise with Inner Witness development, tech capture education, individualized tech use planning, and coaching, I offer a toolkit for strengthening, protecting, and when necessary, regaining personal sovereignty.
The brainwave work comes in two tracks. The original protocol uses EEG to demonstrate the peak performance signature empirically. The adaptation I developed without EEG trains brainwave fluency, measured in real-world improvements rather than a readout on a screen. That way, no one is kept from the benefits of this method at this critical moment by the price of equipment.
I also hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and am a certified Sexual Assault and Rape Crisis Counselor. As a clinician, I worked primarily with emotionally troubled and abused children, and with women.
As a coach, my goal is to help you draw on and build trust in your inner wisdom, and to share the knowledge and skills needed to resist the cognitive corrosion and emotional surrender that come from using social media and AI without preparation.
That said, my clients come with a wide range of goals, many unrelated to tech use, and I'm happy to work with all of them.
I live outside Baltimore with my cat, Zak, love to drum, write songs, and spend time outdoors whenever possible.
This is coaching, not therapy. I don't diagnose or treat. This work is not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
